A Curriculum of Essential skills

Mathematics

The curriculum provides a logical Regular systematic testing and evaluations promote mastery of the material. Using the individualised program each student can succeed and develop to their full potential.

English

The curriculum seeks to develop optimum language skills through its balanced scope and sequence. Each level moves step-by-step continually building on grammar and usage concepts. Ongoing review and testing confirm levels of mastery and comprehension.

Word Building

This subject is unique to our curriculum. The early grades are used to develop the foundational phonic skills needed for reading and writing mastery. Each level then expands the student's grasp of phonetic sounds and combinations by presenting spelling rules and their exceptions.

Creative Writing

This is another unique and powerful adjunct to the English course.

Literature

This subject develops a powerful Christian worldview approach to the study of language. Students complete a study guide and write essays.

Social Studies

Students look at world history and cultures from the perspective that God is the designer.

Science

The student studies concepts and principles A student's natural curiosity about their physical environment is used to build a strong foundation upon Biblical principles. All the science texts are non-evolutionary and practical experiments including 'video labs' are integrated with factual materials.
 
 

Senior Electives 

The core areas are supplemented by subjects with creative and practical applications. At the junior grade levels these are done by all students while senior students have the opportunity to specialise according to their interests. Students have the opportunity to exhibit in various categories at the annual school convention competition.

Performing Arts

Stuents engage in performing scripted and devised productions. 

Music

Students receive instrumental and vocal instruction at an individual level. Group performance is encouraged where a general interest exists and abilities are then honed through competitions.

Physical Education

Activities are based on maintaining bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. CCA encourages healthy eating and a lifestyle Those wishing to test their skills against others have ample opportunities in inter-school swimming and athletic carnivals whilst the school has five different age groups participating in the Northern Tasmanian Christian Soccer League. 

Outdoor Education

Including credits towards the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Information Technology

The school is adequately equipped with a computer room as well as individualised stations in the classrooms. All grades are given the opportunity to develop their computing skills starting with general familiarisation.

Design Graphics

Creativity and understanding of design principles is developed using a range of software. You can see the lessons and assignments that students are doing by visiting the Design Graphics website.

Technology

Manual dexterity is displayed as middle and senior students use our well-equipped manual arts centre

Art and Craft

Artistic abilities have many opportunities to be expressed including sketching
